The late Sable Shields (known better as Sable Starr) was dubbed the queen of the groupie scene back in the early 1970s in Los Angeles. In 1973, she was interviewed for Star Magazine where she claimed to have hooked up with the likes of Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, David Bowie and Mick Jagger. In other words, the list of who she didn’t end up with was shorter, as Bebe Buell said that “every rock star who came to Los Angeles wanted to meet her.”
After growing up in an affluent family in New York City, Cleo Odzer then went into writing; mainly discussing the local rock scene. After meeting many different famous musicians, Odzer gained quite the reputation and was described as a “super groupie” to the stars. Odzer embraced this claim, even recording an album called “The Groupies” where she interviewed some of her friends about their encounters with rock stars.
